Don't you just love the Creepy Heads? I think I've always been fascinated with the other side -- the world of ghosts, fantasy, elves, fairies, fortune-tellers, gypsies, leprechauns and weird things in general. I remember winning a drawing contest in third grade for my rendition of a green-faced witch complete with a hairy nose wart. I got my first set of 'tarot' cards from my parents at age twelve -- The Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Cards are still in my collection today. So, you can see the interest in the unusual has been part of me for a long time.
Creating a Creepy Head is a process that directs me, not the other way around. I don't really know what will develop, I just start manipulating the clay and see what is born. Along the way I get cool ideas about how to paint and embellish my creations.
Now, as an adult, I think the creation of the Creepy Heads is a way to bring interest in the bizarre to life every day -- not just on Halloween. After all, I can't exactly wear costumes and scary makeup when I pick up my kids from school, but I can design and costume a Creepy Head and get my 'fix'. Hey, if I can't wear a costume every day, someone should! I hope The Creepy Heads delight and entertain you as much as they do me. Who knows, maybe you'll decide to adopt one, or they'll decide for you.......
